Shopping
Galway City has an interesting a varied array of shops
that will cater for everyone's tastes. Many of the shops
are located in the the centre of the city where the
range of shops goes from large cosmopolitan shops to
small arts and crafts shops. There are a number of
shopping centres located in the centre of the city and
also in the outskirts of the city. Every Saturday there
is a Market in the centre of the city where foods,
crafts and gifts are sold. The Market is a highlight of
the weekend for many and is a must for anyone visiting
Galway.
Food & Drink
There are more restaurants in Galway City per
capita than in any other city in Ireland. It is known
worldwide for its excellent cuisine and selections of
imported wines. As a coastal city, Galway enjoys great

in the 1500's and can be found on the intersection of
Abbeygate street upper and Shop street. The expertly
sculpted Padraic O'Connaire Statue, can be found in Eyre
Square in the heart of Galway City. Galway University
hosts 12,000 students and was founded in 1845 as Queen's
College Galway. The Cathedral in the city centre is one
of the greatest building in the city with it's large
dome. Amongst Galway's many other sites of interest are
the 15th century Blake's Tower House, the Galway City
Museum, the Fisherman's Museum and the Bawn Wall.
